A Journey of Learning & Exchange
In 2018, I embarked on an expedition to Leh with a mission beyond exploration—I was part of a team spreading awareness about technology and art to children in remote schools. Teaching in these quiet Himalayan villages wasn’t just about giving knowledge; it was an exchange. The children shared their traditions, their aspirations, and their unique way of viewing the world.
As we traveled through Ladakh, this pursuit of learning led me to Thiksey Monastery—a sacred place where Tibetan Buddhism thrives, untouched by time.
Stepping Into Thiksey Monastery
The moment I saw the monastery, perched like a golden fortress against the stark mountains, I knew this place carried stories worth capturing. The front view revealed its architectural grandeur—tiered white walls, red window frames, and golden rooftops glistening in the Ladakhi sun. The side view, however, told a different story—one of resilience, a structure deeply rooted in the mountains, standing firm like the faith of the monks who reside within.
Inside, the monastery was a world of its own—prayer wheels spinning with whispered chants, young monks immersed in their scriptures, and an overwhelming sense of peace. Through conversations with the monks, I gained insight into Buddhism, meditation, and the way of life in these silent mountains.
